Powerful German Cello c. 1870 (GE014) SOLD

Powerful German Cello c. 1870 (GE014)

This is truly a wonderful instrument. The wood and workmanship are top quality and the resultant sound is really, really impressive. A key test for any professional musician when choosing a cello (especially those aspiring to be soloists) is; ‘how much sound can get I out of this instrument?’ This cello has copious amounts of sound, enough to satisfy a soloist in a large auditorium, yet with the right bow, able to produce the sweetest pianissimo notes.

The cello was made in the Markneukirchen region of Germany c. 1870, it spent its early life in Switzerland before eventfully ending up in North America. It has been professionally set-up with a new bridge, fingerboard, geared pegs, fine-tuning tailpiece and a carbon fiber end-pin. The neck projection has been optimized and reinforced resulting in a cello that is responsive and easy to play. The instrument is in very good condition with only one professionally repaired crack on the front, typical for an instrument of this age.

If you are looking for a really good quality antique cello with bags of power, then this is for you.

The length of back is 760mm.
