Erzsébet Strings 7/8th ‘Vuillaume’ Cello, Hungary 2023 (HU02) - $6,500 Canadian

We get a number of requests for smaller 4/4 and 7/8 sized cello, these can be hard to source and the Erzsébet Strings line is in response to those requests. These carefully selected new instruments are imported directly from Hungary. They are made by experienced luthiers from top quality Bosnian flamed maple and fine spruce tone woods. They are very well made, beautifully varnished and offer terrific value for money.

This particular 7/8th cello is fashioned after France’s most famous violin maker; Jean Baptiste Vuillaume. Vuillaume was active in Paris from 1818 and was recognized as the foremost expert in replicating Italian master instruments. He owned many of these instruments and was able to take accurate measurements for his work. His reputation was such that most of the finest instruments passed through his shop at some point. He was also a creative inventor patenting many innovative designs in the field of violin and bow making.

This cello has a fine set up featuring Kaplan strings, a Wittner composite tailpiece, Aubert bridge and carbon fiber endpin.

It is easy to play and has a lovely sound with ample power, resonance and projection for a smaller instrument.
