German Cello c. 1910 (GE029) - SOLD

German Cello c. 1910 (GE029)

This is a lovely old German cello in very good to excellent condition with very few repairs.

The instrument is unlabeled and likely hails from the Markneukirchen region of Germany, being made just before WW1. Markneukirchen was the largest string instrument producing area in Germany at the time, supplying instruments of various levels of quality from basic student to master. This cello is of a higher standard being very well-made and using good tone woods. The workmanship is precise and caring.

It has been thoroughly checked over by a top luthier and remarkable for its age, there is only one small repaired rib crack. It has a very attractive aged varnish and has a lovely sound, especially in the bass. It is fitted with premium Larsen strings

This is a very good, well-crafted old cello with wonderful sound. It is set up well and is very easy to play. It may be of interest to a keen amateur with a love of history or an advancing student, accompanying them on their education journey well into university.

The length of back is 745 mm, high resolution photos available on request.
