1/8th Cello by Franco Barozzi, Italy 1977 (IT010) $2,500 CDN
Fractional 1/8th sized cello bench-made in 1977 by a skilled modern Italian maker; Franco Barozzi of Rovereto.
Barozzi was a skilled violinist, violist and successful instructor that turned his hand to instrument making at a young age. He was mostly self taught, learning the trade from a circle of skilled violin making friends and studying the work of the Old Italian masters. Barozzi was not a prolific maker, but his instruments are very good; clean, crisp and precise work using very good tone woods and materials.
This 1/8th sized cello is simply adorable, it is in excellent condition with only very minor surface wear. It comes with a padded backpack bag and bow. Barozzi cannot have made many 1/8th sized cellos and this one was likely commissioned.
A decent new 1/8th sized cello from China or Romania would cost in the region of $1400. This is a far superior instrument that will have a much better resale value once your young cellist graduates to a larger instrument. It is set up ready to play for the budding serious cellist.
Length of back; 482mm. High resolution photos on request.
