August Edwin Prager (1875-1956)

August Edwin Prager was born in Schönlind into a bow making tradition. He learnt the trade from his father Friedrich Willhelm and by working in Leipzig at the highly respected shop of Ludwig Christian August Bausch. Bausch was to become known as the "German Tourte" – a reference to the famed French bow maker who is considered to be the most important figure in the development of the modern bow (in turn, he was known as the Stradivari of the bow!)

Prager moved back to Schönlind at the turn of the century and in 1930, started a shop in neighboring Markneukirchen. His bows are of fine quality and appreciated by players and collectors alike.
