A German Cello Bow by Mathias Thoma (BG04)

A German Cello Bow by Mathias Thoma (BG04)

Mathias Thoma is a trade name for premium string instrument bows manufactured by Roderich Paesold of Bubenreuth, Bavaria, Germany. Thoma was a master bow maker who worked for the Paesold company whilst also producing bows independently. Many important bow makers studied or worked at the workshop of Roderich Paesold.

This bow was likely made in the Paesold workshop sometime in the 1990’s. It is silver mounted with a very attractive snakewood frog inlaid with a pearl eye. The three part adjuster is silver. A terrific bow at a very reasonable price. Weight 83 grams.
